I’m Sherlan Gittens, an Independent Brand & Design Consultant based in Saint Lucia, working with organisations and creative teams across markets.
My work focuses on brand identity systems, design systems, creative direction and editorial design—particularly for organisations that have evolved beyond the way they currently communicate.
I’m less interested in changing things for the sake of novelty than in understanding what already has value, what has changed, and what the brand now needs to express more clearly. Sometimes that means rethinking an identity. Sometimes it means building a stronger system around what already exists. The objective is the same: to create communication that feels coherent, confident and useful.
I work closely with leadership teams and internal stakeholders because good design depends on understanding the organisation behind the brief. Working independently allows me to stay close to both the thinking and the execution, with direct communication throughout the process and fewer layers between the people making decisions and the person leading the work.
Over the past decade, I’ve worked across businesses, governments, international development organisations and established brands in the Caribbean and beyond. I also collaborate with creative studios and agencies on selected international projects.
Most organisations don’t need a new logo. They need a clearer communication system.
That belief continues to shape the kind of work I take on and the way I approach it.
